Advocating for Tillamook County

On June 3, 2015, I had the opportunity to testify in front of the Oregon Board of Forestry to advocate for a forest management plan that would allow our the State Forests within Tillamook County to be actively managed and still set aside and preserve areas that are ecologically and environmentally sensitive.  Tillamook County as part of the Oregon Trust County's receives a percentage of the revenue from timber sales.  This money goes directly into the General Fund.  This funding source has been fairly unpredictable but still makes up a sizable part of the budget.  It would be my goal to boost the economy by using existing business incentives to encourage private job growth.  This would allow the county to direct this funding source into capital improvement projects and materials.  If the amount of timber revenue received in is less than expected, the county employees will not be impacted by job losses.
